Visiting Utah

We have been home now for a week. We went to Utah and of course had the great joy of driving. Some we hear have drivin within 24 hours. But with our kids that task was impossible. We get about 8-10 hours of driving a day. So it takes us 3 days and 2 nights. The trip out went well. We went to Lagoon with the Mom & Dad Erickson, Mary & Brian, Joni & the boys, Lecia & Curt and their kids. It was a lot of fun. That weekend we had an family gathering at my brother's home in Huntsville. It was so nice to visit with everyone. We missed Kristen and Mike who just moved to Denver and Jerel & Crystal who couldn't be there either. The treat was seeing Joni, James, Darin Leon, Nate and Joni's mom Barbara. It had been several year since Jason & the kids had seen them. I saw them last Dec. when Kevin passed away. Well it was a treat all the way around. It had been a year since we had seen most the family. It was a wonderful day. We also celebrated our 12th Anniversary on that day, August 2nd.

We went on to Jason's family and had a BBQ, wedding reception, to end we lots of fun enjoying fireworks. We missed seeing Axel & Lisa, but sure loved visiting with Grandma Great, Mike, Kristen, Bobby, Brittany, Amber & Zach and the kiddos. It was a really good trip until we headed home. Whit got sick, Sarah joined in and by evening of the first day driving home everyone but myself and Luke were sick. We got to see Kristen the next morning in Denver and thankfully recieved blessings for all the family. Our prayers were answered as we had no more throwing-up from that point on and the trip became more pleasant. I drove the 2nd day and by the third day Jason was feeling better and drove the rest of the way home.

Happy 4th of July!!!!

The day after the 4th we had a great time just playing around. The kids played in the water, Rob attempted to touch the ground (was pretty close) and cooked hot dogs and smore's. Rylin loved the smores. We also saw how Aunt Jena created a water slide with the kiddie pool. Jason took the kids for a ride in the lawnmower wagon and on the dune buggy. It was a great weekend.

Happy 4th of July!!!

Rob and Jena came for a visit. We took them to Crowley's Ridge for the fourth and had a picnic with a few friends. The kids loved playing on the trails and riding the paddle boats. Rob even got the dune buggy running-miracle of all miracles, well I must give proper credit to Jena who really talked them through the checks to see what wasn't working. It was pretty funny. We also found a new friend "Buckey" on the Wii and enjoyed playing with everyone. Robby and Luke were so cute together and Sarah kept calling Rylin "Baby" as though she is so grown up. We were eaten alive by the mosquito's and well after Jason and Robs synchronized fireworks found a few tips of things not to try with fireworks. Fortunately no one lost a limb, just a few burned hairs and maybe some skinned knees. Over all we had a really great time.

Look who's two...

Sarah is now officially two. She was so cute eating her ice cream. She licked it instead of taking bites. She also had a great time playing with her new toys. Of course it had to be the worst birthday ever (according to Colton and Whitney). We attended a baptism that afternoon and so I sent the kids into the nursery. How awful of me to want to enjoy a convert baptism. Anyhow, I had to remind them that to a two year old, nursery is fun!! Toys, food, stories who could argue? Anyhow they all survived and I got to see half the baptism, the other half was spent trying to keep my kids and a few others from disrupting the service. Oh well, I tried. It was a nice birthday.

Father's Day!

Jason got a special Father's Day tie this year. I downloaded a photo to Walmart and had it put on a tie. It turned out cute. This week was quite busy as I had to finish some other church gifts for a few local churches. I did a box pyramid with window. Filled with candy and a golf pen attached down one side. I ended up having to add some extra tape due to high humidity which made it hard for the scrapbook tape to hold well. Whitney gave this one to her dad and added another golf pen down the other side. She likes to follow after her mom. We have a good time creating things together. In our ward the primary colored King Size candybar wrappers, I must say that each one was very unique.

Winter or Summer?

Ok, by the look of the TV show and Luke's winter hat I bet you'd think this was still winter! Nope, took this picture last week when I saw Luke trying to find his hat so he could match the characters. Ya just gotta love 'em! Update on his diabetes...last check he was over 9 in his 3 month ratio, up from the last visit. He needed some adjustments to his insulin and he seems to be doing better now. We are hoping to see a 7 next time which would put him at a great zone. The three month test lets you see and average of his sugars over that period of time. When he was diagnosed he was off the chart over 13. His range should be around a 7. Lower and we'd be asked to give him more carb/sugars per unit of insulin. It's a balancing act I guess. He's doing well though.

Sarah or Melanie?

She's my girl. Finally the Miller mold has been broken and we get an Erickson. I do love my Miller kids though, just glad someone looks like they came from me. If you couldn't tell Sarah is the pink background. I'm in the blue background. Of course, you should be able to tell by the dated dress that it's me.
